Day 363 - Kricks Bakery

For the last 20 years, we have driven by Kricks Bakery.  Never stopped by to purchase any baked goods there, yet sometime around 2008/2009 the Bakery closed it's doors and has stood there vacant. A reminder of how companies that were able to survived for over 100 years found their demise in the early 21st century.

The Bakery was founded in 1888 and when it incorporated it employed up to 7 people and had an annual income of $400,000 per year.  Why they closed their doors after serving the Bethlehem area for 110 years, I have not yet been able to find out.  However if you know of any history of the bakery located on 720 Stefko Blvd, in Bethlehem, Pa.  Add it here.

Day 356 - At the Bethlehem Library

Day 351 - More Snow

Today we got another 3.5" (8.89 cm).  That makes a total of 14.5" (36.83 cm) since the 1st of December and it is not even officially winter yet.  So after clearing the driveway of snow and cleaning the car, the wife and I went to visit a shut-in to give her communion, then headed down to Bethlehem for a winter shot:

Day 349 - Sunday Afternoon in the Christmas City

Well the snow started yesterday @ 10:30 AM and it snowed all day.  At 22:30, after about 6" (15.54 cm) of snow,  it switched to ice.  This left about about .8" (2.032 cm) of ice on top of the snow.  I was so glad to have prepped the snowblower for this storm.  After clearing my driveway and a couple of my neighbor's driveways, the wife and I went out to do some birthday shopping for our granddaughter and pick-up a new N gauge engine for my train display down in Bethlehem.

Day 336 - House on Summit Lawn

Yesterday my daughter told me about a house on Summit Lawn.  She said that this house is extensively decorated and they continue to add to it every year.  So on my way home from work I thought I would stop by and take a few photos of this house.  My photos really don't show how magnificently this house is decorated.

Day 333 - Lighting of Easton

We went down to Easton this evening for their traditional kick-off for the Holiday season.  We arrived around 6:30 PM and our plan was to stay there till the lighting of the Peace Candle.  However, it was cold, so we got a few pictures, then headed back home.

Day 324 - Old Water Tower

After arriving at the testing center @ 09:00, I entered into the center @ 09:30 to begin a 4 hour grueling test.  At 13:15 I finally answered my last question, took the survey and left the facility.  I sat in my car and just vegetated as I downed a whole bottle of water.  Note, there was no food, water, or bath room breaks during the 4 hours, nor were you allowed to bring in food or water.  The only thing they allowed inside the testing area was the key to your locker and your ID card.

So after starting the car and leaving the center I noticed this old looking water tower:

Day 322 - A walk to Home Depot

Today after I spent 7 hours preparing for my test on Wednesday, I thought I would take a break and walk to our local Home Depot store.  That walk turned into a  5.5 miles/8.8km round trip.  Along the way, I noticed the old smoke stack in what is now a warehouse complex.

Day 318 - First Reformed Church of South Bethlehem (1870)

Had to run make a run to South Bethlehem at luck today, so while I was there I walked by this old church that looks like it is no longer in use.  I was able to find some history on the church, but it only took me up to 1915, so I really don't know yet what has happened to congregation yet.

As I walked around looking at the church I decided on this two images:

Day 316 - The Steps

Today I was driving down to Easton to get a image.  As I was driving down the street, I noticed a set of steps out the right corner of my eye.  I stopped the car, got out and looked at the steps.  There before my eyes was this beautiful mosaic on the steps. Day 287 - Night Light

Busy day today.  With work, studying, almost didn't have time to go out and get a photo.  However, on my way home from work tonight I noticed this church on the corner and I liked how the church was lit.  So I pulled the car over, jumped out into the dark street with dark clothes on and quickly snapped a couple of images, hoping not to get hit by a car.

Day 281 - Tuesday Evening Walk

After spending 7 hours studying for the exam, I stopped and took a nice walk with the wife this evening.  It was a nice cool fall evening, perfect for a walk and enjoy the fall air.
